About the Artist

I have the urge to share what has been a real source of joy for me. Marquetry is one of the most satisfying art forms I have learned, but it was very frustrating at first. I have 17 years of experience with marquetry to share and am happy to do just that.

Using my DVD will kickstart your skills in marquetry. The tips and tricks throughout the DVD will keep you paddling straight and in sync as you learn how to handle wood veneer.

Working with veneers, I am able to use woods that are rare and expensive in solid form. Startup costs are small. My workshop is indoors so I am warm and comfortable during Canadian winters. There isn't a problem with dust or noise, and I am not exposed to harmful chemicals.

When a piece of work turns out well, it fills me with a sense of accomplishment and I hope to have created something that will outlive me. When people see my work I want them to feel my love of nature and especially wood. When people ask to touch a piece of marquetry, I always say yes. To me, this is the ultimate compliment: their desire to not only see but to feel and connect with the work.

I also enjoy kayaking, wilderness camping, oil painting and freelance writing.
